History

Since 1988, the Toyota Center has been a cornerstone of the Tri-Cities, evolving from the Tri-Cities Coliseum into a dynamic hub for sports, entertainment, and community events. Over the years, it has hosted countless memorable moments, cheering on local hockey heroes and enjoying world-class performances. Its journey, shaped by local pride and partnerships, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of Kennewick and the greater Tri-Cities area.

After changing private ownerships, the City of Kennewick financially rescued and purchased the troubled Coliseum in August of 2000.

In June of 2000, a year-round ice arena called Rink “B” was added to the complex through a Purchase and Sale agreement with Ron Toigo, the previous owner of the Tri-City Americans Hockey Club, and the City of Kennewick.

In April of 2004, the management and oversight of the Arena and Coliseum were assigned to the Kennewick Public Facilities District (KPFD) through an inter-local agreement with the City of Kennewick.

Compass Facility Management Inc. (now VenuWorks, Inc.) was engaged to oversee day-to-day operations.

The complex was renamed the Three Rivers Campus, with the Coliseum and Rink B becoming the Three Rivers Coliseum and the Three Rivers Ice Arena, respectively.

The completion and dedication of the Three Rivers Convention Center in June of 2004 further enhanced the campus.
